Yoga Sanctuary Retreats: Steamboat Springs, CO

By | Retreats | No Comments

with Isabel Groedel and December Johnston

Yoga Sanctuary is about temporarily detaching from the hectic pace of the external and harnessing the inherent tranquility of nature to restore the forsaken yin in our hurried, yang-centric lives. By offering a balance of asana practice, guided meditation, rest, and adventure, Yoga Sanctuary Retreat is an opportunity to reconnect to the native self and the natural world.

Steamboat Springs, CO:

May 5-9, 2016

rise with the sun | exhale stress and inhale the invigorating view from atop Mt. Werner during your morning yoga practice (Hatha or Restorative)  | savor an energizing brunch | opt in for an adventure | horseback ride along the Yampa River | let the idyllic hot springs rejuvinate your body | surrender Siri and trek through the beautiful Colorado mountains | watch the sunset as you enjoy an evening practice (Vinyasa) on the deck, followed by a delicious and nourishing homemade dinner prepared with beautiful local and organic ingredients | let go of daylight and bask in the moonlight from the private hot tub perfectly nestled into your outdoor alpine escape | read for leisure with a glass of wine while reveling in the sound of seasonal waterfalls | sense your eyelids getting heavy and drift off to sleep | rise and repeat

Accommodations: Newly constructed in 2009, Granite Falls Chalet is named for the seasonal stream that flows alongside the home. The grand chalet is located in the quiet, private neighborhood of Val D’Isere on Mt. Werner, and is nestled in the forest to create a secluded get-away.

The Chalet has two separate living areas, two master suites, 4 fireplaces, two wet bars and abundant outdoor living spaces that bring the outdoors inside, including five decks to take in the views. All-access to public lands out your back door and world class hiking at Steamboat Ski Area is less than a mile away. You will be only minutes from a large grocery store, liquor store, coffee shop(s), restaurants, shopping, and the fun, vibrant downtown area of this authentic ski town.

Along a road off of Highway 40 near Steamboat springs, I found the roadsides covered in reds and blues in mid-July. The lupine and paintbrush were everywhere, and the opportunity to capture Colorado wildflower images was abundant. These pictures came late in the day as the moon was prominent in the sky.
